Dear Members of the Southern Cape Old Car Club,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I extend my warmest invitation to all members of the
Southern Cape Old Car Club for our much-anticipated Annual Erfenistoer. This year, we are thrilled
to announce that the tour will take place from 20 to 24 September 2024.
Our carefully curated itinerary promises to offer a truly unforgettable experience, as we embark on a
journey that celebrates our shared passion for vintage automobiles and the rich heritage of the
beautiful Southern Cape and Karoo regions. We have meticulously planned each day’s events, ensuring
a perfect balance between historic landmarks, breath-taking scenery, and the joy of driving our beloved
classic cars.
Our tour will take us over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Klein Karoo, travelling through
Meiringspoort to the Greater Karoo. Our first night, we are staying in Prins Albert, where we will
enjoy the culinary delights that the Karoo has to offer with an “All white” theme!
The 2nd day we are travelling towards the N2, where we will have lunch at the renowned Lord Milner
Hotel in Matjiesfontein. We will book into the Karoo 1 Hotel Village near De Doorns for the next 2
nights.
As part of the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride initiative, the 3rd day will take us on a circular route
through the Warmbokkeveld to Ceres and via the Michell’s Pass to the historic town of Tulbagh. After
lunch we will return via Worcester and the Hex River Valley to the Karoo 1 Hotel Village.
The 4th day is a long trek via the Koo Valley to Barrydale, where we will stop for lunch.
After lunch we will continue to Gourikwa Reserve for our final sleepover.
We are pleased to extend an invitation to all our SCOCC members that are unable to tour with us to
join us for the last evening at Gourikwa Reserve where we will have our last function themed
“Braaivleis, Sunshine and …”, inviting us to embrace the splendour of a bygone era. (Separate
invitation with costs to follow.)
The Erfenistoer promises to be an exceptional experience, meticulously designed to celebrate our
shared passion for vintage automobiles and the rich heritage of the Southern Cape. I encourage each
and every one of you to join us on this remarkable journey, as we forge new friendships, strengthen old
bonds, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Let us come together, reviving the spirit of a bygone era, as we embark on the 12th Erfenistoer, from
the 20th to the 24th of September 2024. We eagerly await your presence, as we celebrate the love for
classic cars, the beauty of our surroundings, and the camaraderie that unites us.
Yours sincerely,
Waldo, Chris, Rensche & Chris
