Welcome to the Southern Cape Old Car Club (SCOCC). We are the organisation that represents the owners of vehicles of years gone by. Our home base is the beautiful Southern Cape with its scenic and interesting roads, its variety of tourist attractions and natural beauty.
For the old car enthusiast the Southern Cape is the ideal environment – a real “home” to the old ladies on whom so much time and effort is spent. Here you will still find people who stop in amazement to watch when they see an old car driving past. Here you can choose which direction to drive your beloved old car – whether it be the winding roads of the Outeniqua or Swartberg mountains, the coastal towns of the Garden Route, the ominous indigenous forest roads or the open stretches of the Karoo. Here you can inhale fresh air into your lungs and watch in amazement how the sun sets over the ocean or the mountains.
SCOCC members hail from George, Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, but also has members and representatives as far as Beaufort West and Victoria West. In this club, old car enthusiasts of all ages and vehicles find a home, from stationary engines that drove pumps long years ago, to veteran tractors, trucks and cars. Vehicles from each decade of the previous century are represented here. You and your beloved old vehicle will therefore feel at home with us.
With us you will definitely find something to suit your passion. You can choose from rallies and technical discussions, social evenings and outings and tours where you can drive your old car with pride through the natural beauty and nostalgia of the Southern Cape.
And then we also invite you to our “garage evenings” where we visit our members behind their garage doors, to get a closer glimpse into them and their passion.
We as a club realise how important our members are and we therefore acknowledge their descent, identity, preferences and culture, just as we acknowledge their preferences for old vehicles.
Everyone should feel at home and experience something worthwhile. Since its foundation in 1988, we acknowledge both Afrikaans and English cultures and do justice to both languages. This is our identity and we feel proud that it works for us.
The SCOCC is also home to and the organiser of the popular and well-known George Old Car Show. Proper organisation, a large variety of vehicles, as well as the natural beauty of this area ensure that the show annually attracts huge numbers of spectators and enthusiasts from all over the country. The George Old Car Show is indeed the show room of our club and its activities.
The SCOCC’s management is based on professional principles and the fact that our club is financially healthy, is evidence of dedicated management throughout the years.
Come and join the club and share your passion for old vehicles with us!
