Sell your old car

Sell your old car

George – The 23rd George Old Car Show, driven by Oakhurst Insurance Company, will take place on 9 – 10 February 2019 for the last time on the premises of PW Botha College. The show will move to Glenwood House Private School in 2020.
This year’s Show will focus on rare and exotic cars exhibited by proud owners from across the country. Altogether some 800 vehicles, most of them manufactured before 1975, will be on display at PW Botha College in York Street. In addition, there will be a number of new models, stationary engines and more than 5000 model cars. A number of stalls will sell a range of car accessories, spare parts and novelty items, as well as other goods, food and refreshments.

The auction hosted by House of Classic & Sports Cars in Knysna, offering vintage, classic and sports cars, will once again be one of the highlights. “We specialize buying and selling such vehicles,” said Wendy Rademeyer.
“We are proud to be involved with this event. “The Auctioneer’s full commission (bidder’s premium) of 6% on the price of each vehicle sold is given to the Southern Cape Old Car Club who donates this to a charity or charities of their choice.”
The auction is held from 13:00 to 14:00 on Saturday 9 February 2019. The vehicles on auction can be viewed from 09:00 in an area close to the auction registration rent. Anyone wishing to bid must register between 09.00 and 12:45, as a strict “no registration, no bidding” rule applies.
According to Wendy, a refundable deposit of R3 000 is payable upon registration. This entails a credit card being swiped and the docket retained. If no purchase is made, the docket is handed back to the Bidder. No cash deposits are accepted.
Only vehicles in good, running condition will be accepted and sellers are urged not to specify unrealistic prices. These sales are not “bargain basements”, but it has been proven that the more reasonably priced cars will more than likely sell. Those with unrealistic prices simply will not as bidders do expect to pay competitive prices. House of Classic & Sports Cars staff can guide sellers on what may realistically be achieved.
Entries for the auction are now open and the auctioneers are looking for stock. If you have a vehicle you would like to sell (preferably pre-1975 to fit in with the general theme of the Show), please contact House of Classic & Sports Cars directly.
