The route for the 2018 Ford Veteran and Vintage Tour – 5 to 9 February 2018

The route has been chosen to accommodate veteran and vintage vehicles, but does include some challenging and beautiful mountain passes and poorts. A few short sections of gravel are also included, but participants that do not want to travel on gravel can bypass these sections.

Monday, 5 February, the first evening is spent at the Wilderness Hotel. 

Day one, Tuesday, 6 February, is branded as the FORD DAY, takes us from the Wilderness along Whites Road followed by the historic Seven Passes Road past Saasveld to the starting point at Imperial Ford in the parking area of the Eden Meander. The departure from Ford Imperial is at 10:00. The route to Oudtshoorn is along the coast and over the Robinson Pass. A tea stop is organised at Eight Bells.

On Wednesday 7 February, the second day which is branded as VEEDOL OIL / SAMUELS GROUP DAY we travel along Route 62 to a Zoar where the tea stop will be. After tea we travel through Seweweekspoort and back and return to Oudtshoorn. On the way back the route veers south to return along the concrete road past the Calitzdorp Spa. The late afternoon is ended with a visit to the Oudtshoorn Ford dealership at 17:00. Oudtshoorn Ford is also our recommended filling station for the tour.

Day three, Thursday, is MUA AND OUTENIQUA LAB DAY. It is a short drive through Schoemanspoort and passes the entrance of the Cango Caves and returns to Buffelsdrift Game Lodge where tea will be served. We then return to Oudtshoorn and continue on to the Klein Karoo Ostrich Emporium to visit and chat with the workers in the factory of the Klein Karoo Boutique. This day will end with the much anticipated Gala Evening,

On the last day, Friday, SACLASSICS COM DAY participants will drive to Meiringspoort and return to Oudtshoorn where we will pass through the town and have tea at the church hall in Volmoed. After tea we return to George and then re-group at the entrance to the city at about 16:00 and drive in convoy to the George Old Car Show at the PW Botha showgrounds.
